UK Mini Swap - let's do this!

Image
What do you say, shall we kick off??? Please read THE RULES below. If you agree to all of them, and only then, please head over and sign up for this swap. Please take your time filling in the answers! I'll publish a "final call for sign-ups", so please don't rush! Make sure you are taking your time signing up as the better information you provide, the easier it'll be for your Partner to make a Mini Quilt which makes you happy! All levels are welcome. You MUST be active on social media. By publishing progress photos online, you interact with the other swappers, share ideas, and encourage each other along the way. You meet new people. You get to know them better. If you are lucky, your partner sees your progress photos and says s/he loves what you are doing. Believe me, it is FANTASTIC when this happens! To get the most out of the swap, it really helps being active on Instagram / Flickr / Pinterest. It also makes your Partner happier. The R

UK Mini Swap - a mini quilt swap for us in the United Kingdom

Image
After chatting to a few other quilters based in the United Kingdom, I put a feeler out on Instagram and Facebook to see if there is any interest in doing a Mini Quilt Swap for those with addresses in the United Kingdom. Based on the many cheers and positive responses, I have this evening been working on the Swap Rules and the sign-up questions. In short how it'll work: Everyone who'd like to take part in the swap answers a few questions online. Based on the answers, everyone is assigned a Partner to make a mini quilt for. You make one for one person, and someone else is making you one. By publishing progress photos online, you interact with the other swappers, share ideas, and encourage each other along the way. You meet new people. You get to know them better. If you are lucky, your partner sees your progress photos and says s/he loves what you are doing. Believe me, that is FANTASTIC when that happens! To get the most out of the swap, it really helps being a

Around the World Blog Hop

Image
Hello and welcome to my little corner of the blog world. Physically, I am located close to the river Thames in central London,  Great Britain / United Kingdom. I have called England home for over ten years. Before moving here, I spent most of my time in Sweden, where I was born and went to school. I have also worked shorter periods (less than one year) in Hong Kong, Poland, Latvia, the United States and Brazil. All in all, the Around the World Blog Hop sort of sums me up... First, a huge thank you to Lizzie at Swedish Scrapper  who linked to me. Lizzie and I first "met" during the second Schnitzel and Boo Instagram mini swap earlier this year. I had the privilege of stalking her for a few months whilst I was making her mini. Actually, I made two minis, as the one I loved most was too small according to the swap rules. I fell in love with this little hedgehog mini. This was my first ever attempt at paper piecing. Here's the label on the back on the other mini.

Modern Insta Bee - October (catch-up post)

Image
For October, Gemma asked us to make the Triple Star in fabric which she kindly sent us. As before, the pattern can be found in the book  " Modern Bee - 13 quilts to make with friends ", by Lindsay Conner. This being a new block for me, I made a test block in red, blue and white. The "Dear Nina" block collection is slowly growing... The centre star has points which are only 1"x1" finished!!! Rather fiddly, but once past this stage the block is actually very fast to sew together. The final block for Gemma looks like this (apologies for the atrociously bad quality of the photos!): If you like to follow Gemma's quilting adventures please visit her on Instagram .

Modern Insta Bee - September (catch-up post)

Image
September was Cara's month. She picked the Stacked Windmills from the book  " Modern Bee - 13 quilts to make with friends ", by Lindsay Conner. As we had already done this block before, I didn't do a test block in my usual colours of blue-red-white but went straight for it. My block has, an almost hot pink centre block, some lovely Spirodraft corners and to round it off two light grey fabrics. Nearing the end of September, Cara published the following photo on Instagram. Previously, I had never even considered using grey in quilts, but after working with the block for Cara, I am absolutely and thoroughly in LOVE with it!!! If you like to follow Cara, go and check out her blog or her Instagram feed.
