A combo for a newborn - feeding apron, wetwipes covers and a small bag

Image
This is a common combination of useful gifts for a newborn and the mother! The simple feeding apron, or more jokingly sometimes called " the hooter hider ", provide the mother (and the nursing baby!) some privacy whilst feeding in public. Once you get the hang of it, it is really useful and makes sure you don't hesitate to breast feed when the baby is hungry, no matter where you are!  There are also two covers for the soft packs of wetwipes (see TUTORIAL here ), and finally a really useful odds and sods bag . The bag is lined and easily takes a few diapers / nappies, a bottle, wipes (in their cover!) and a burp cloth. As the baby gets older it also works as a first bag for kindergarten / nursery with spare clothes and perhaps a cuddly.

Charity Christmas Fair - opens Thursday 21 Nov

Image
If you are in London, don't miss the Christmas Fair at the Swedish Church this Thursday, Saturday and Sunday! As previous years, there'll be plenty of Swedish food and handicrafts, Swedish gingerbread (pepparkakor), homebaked bread, hard bread (knäckebröd), christmas sausages and cheese, hot pea soup (ärtsoppa med punch), elk, reindeer (renfilé), gravad lax, sandwiches, cakes (massor av hembakta kakor oct prinsesstårta), mulled wine (glögg), hot dogs, candles (ljus), Swedish glass, Christmas cards and much more… Again, we are a dozen or so, who have been busy crafting hand made items which we are selling at one of the stalls. All profits go to the Church and typically we have all donated both material and time. Due to Baby 3, my contribution was slightly less this year than previous times, although I believe the other ladies have been busy as always and there'll be plenty of amazing items to purchase. Just make sure you are there early, as many items are unique

Girlie pillow cases

Image
Of course, if the big brother gets new cool pillow cases, then the little one NEEDS some too!!! She is absolutely fascinated by flowers and ladybirds at the moment so the front version was a given! The one behind, has some red dots on pink background.  She absolutely LOVES them!

Pillow cases in fabrics selected by DS

Image
I have recently made two new pillow cases for DS, as he has moved up to full sized pillow for sleeping (and reading!). He was given a selection of my fabric stash to select from and immediately grabbed these ones with scooters and vintage planes!

Emergency avoided - copy made!

When DD was born she was given a super soft cuddly rabbit with really loooooong ears.  It was made by a lady in South Africa and brought here by her friend who was also one of the mums in our parent group for DS. The Rabbit was, and still is, with DD every night and she usually goes to bed massaging the silky ears. During the years it has started to look rather tatty well-loved and a new one was desperately needed. Long story short; it was easier to make a copy than try to get hold of a new similar looking one from South Africa. When I bought the fleece for the replacement rabbit a year ago (I never got around to making it until recently), the colour was a very close match, even if it doesn't look like it in the picture. If you are in South Africa or need a gift for a mum to be or a new born baby, do go and check out Lily 'n Jack's web page, link here .
