Hexi love - by sewing machine

Image
I love the effect of hexagons in a quilt, but can't really justify starting another one as the pall is still going to take some considerable time to complete. As a teenager I made footballs out of fabric and as they are built up of 20 hexagons and 15 pentagons, there just MUST be a way of machine stitching only hexagons together to a quilt. I know it's "wrong" to do it by machine, but HEY!, with two kids, time is of the essence!  I have made my hexagons rather larger than "standard" to make the quilt grow quicker, and to make sure the patterns of the fabrics are shown off better. So far, I am really pleased with the result! Sure, it's not as smooth as the hand sewn ones, but it's good enough for me and I still haven't ironed them.

Knitted pot holder

Apologies, but this is in Swedish as, the description was published on Hemmets Journal, a Swedish magazine: Rundstickad grytlap med nyckelpigor Storlek:  Ca 19 x 19 cm Garn:  1 nystan vardera av grönt, rött och svart i merceriserat bomullsgarn 8/4. Link to original page

Cushions for the children

Image
With kids around, everything needs to be washed from time to time. Instead of having to wash the whole cushion every time, I have started using pillow cases also for the decorative cushions in their room.  Three created so far, more to follow!

Almost done!

Tomorrow is the big opening day of the Christmas Fair at the Swedish Church in London and I was there helping preparing our "hand crafted only" stall this lunch time.  The trunk with mostly stuff that I have made and donated: Some of my items laid out: It is looking fabulous, if I may say so myself :-) GOD JUL!

Bags for clothes pegs

This fabric was donated together with lots of other fabric to the Swedish Church and seeing the print, I couldn't resist making two bags for clothes pegs. These will be on sale at the Christmas Fair next week.

More scarves or dribble bibs

Image
I have managed to complete some more scrap-busting projects.  The top one has fleece as the back fabric and will be great as a warm scarf during the winter months. The one below has a childish flannel backing in baby blue. Both have a small blue flowery pattern on the front. Two with white stars on blue background. One got a red jersey knit backing to complete the American feel; the other one has the same flannel backing as the picture above. For little ones who is in the teething stages, the flannel is super absorbent and great for keeping their clothes dry for longer. It is also so much easier to take of the dribble bib than changing the t-shirt, shirt, body, onesie or what have you.

Hand crafted for the Christmas Fair

The piles of hand made fabolous items for the Christmas Fair at the Swedish Church in London are growing! This is just one of the tables of items already delivered by the extremely creative ladies. The fair opens on the 17th of November and then again on the 19th and 20th. If everything works out, I'll be in the stall on the Thursday if you'd like to pop by and say 'Hello!'. There'll also be lots of other stalls selling Swedish food and Christmas related items. The church will open up as a cafe with Swedish "fika" (coffee, tea, buns, cakes, etc) and the hot dog man will most likely be busy too!
