UKQU book club starting again
It is almost a year since I kicked off the UKQO Book Club with Tracy Chevalier's The Runaway and arranged for us to work with British Patchwork and Quilting to announce the books.
After I had selected the books for the first three months, Arlene was kind enough to carry my late-night idea forward for a few months, but recently she's had to focus on other things and we put the Book Club on hold.
The books selected during 2018 were;
April: The Last Runaway, Tracy Chevalier - my review
May: Sew Deadly, Elizabeth Lynn Casey - my review
June: The forgotten seamstress, Liz Trenow - my review
July: The quilter’s apprentice, Jennifer Chiaveverinu (selected by Arlene)
August: Alias Grace, Margaret Attwood (selected by Arlene)
September: To Scotland with love, Patience Griffin (selected by Arlene)
October: Quilt as desired, Arlene Sachitao (selected by Arlene)
November: Happenstance, Carol Shields (selected by Arlene)
As the book club originally was my idea and I love reading, I have decided to try to keep suggesting books for you all to read every month.
As before, it'll be a mixture of quilting and sewing related novels from a wide range of genres and time periods. For each book, I'll also set up a discussion group here on the website, to allow those who like to have a chat about the book to 'meet', like a 'proper' book club. Cake and tea are of course recommended!!
I am currently finalising the reading list for the rest of the year, and waiting for a few more books to arrive in the post. To be one of the first finding out which book is selected each month, please keep an eye on my blogs on ukqu.co.uk and join the UKQU Book Club to discuss the books as we go along.
