New patterns in the shops - All Together Now Quilt Blocks

Image
I've had some fun when I created two quilt block patterns with people on them. These are the two base blocks which you can get from my shops. Both blocks have a dress (short or long) and a trouser outfit (jumper or suit / dinner jacket).  By mixing the two quilt block patterns and adjusting the hair styles, a wide selection of blocks can be created. You can keep with traditional woman and man, or mix it up as you like. Below are some of mine; I'd love to see what you make, so please tag your makes with the hashtag #alltogethernowquilt and #bossyozpatterns so I can find them.  https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/alltogethernowquilt/ Get the two base patterns:  LINK to my Payhip shop   LINK to my UKQU shop - currently £1 off!

Quick and easy quilt pattern - Roman Rail Fence

Image
Free, easy PDF pattern to download Having created the pattern for this easy quilt, I hesitated before naming it as I wanted to ensure I gave it a correct name. I was planning to call it something with 'Rail Fence', but some searching online made me realise that not all quilt patterns with strips arranged into squares are called Rail Fence! More than one Rail Fence The one consisting of just  two  rectangular pieces in each sub-block is usually referred to as Streak of Lightning (or Endless Stair) block. Using three rectangular pieces in each sub-block and you need to refer to the block as a Roman Square. Finally, the block with four strips, is the one which is actually called Rail Fence.  The free pattern So, with that out of the way, it's time to show you the quilt top I made using my Roman Rail Fence pattern (see what i did there?). The sub-blocks consist of three rectangular pieces sewn together to create a flow of red and orange 'stairs' throughout the quilt,...

Sunflower block - the first in a new BOM on UKQU

Image
Having followed Jenny Haynes of Papper, Sax, Sten since she started out in earnest in the United Kingdom, I was more than excited to be given a set of her acrylic templates and some luscious Oakshott fabrics. I was less excited when I realised which pattern she wanted me to use…. Curves always fill me with dread, although as you’ll see below, it’s not that difficult once you let go! The pattern  The pattern is a sun flower made up of various drunkard’s path blocks (CURVES!!!!), all combined in a clever way to create a flower and various leaves. The pattern instructions are very well set out; with step by step written instructions and supporting images to take you through the various steps. If you are following the colours set out in the pattern, the main challenge is going to be to ensure the colours go in the right place! The templates  The templates come in a few different sizes, but the ones used for this pattern ensure you can get both a convex and a concave...

Easter egg scramble - FPP pattern

Image
I really enjoyed creating the pattern for the foundation paper pieced logo for UK Quilters United, so much so that I wanted to create some more FPP patterns. Trying to come up with an idea, which also forced me to have a deadline, I started thinking about the festivities coming up. I realised I was too late to make something for Valentine’s Day and St Patrick’s Day is not really celebrated at my place (although it is at work), so the next holiday that sprung to my mind was Easter. Thinking about the festivities coming up, I realised I was too late to make something for Valentine's Day. St Patrick's Day is not really celebrated at my place (although it is at work), so the next holiday is Easter. After doing a search on Google and Pinterest, I realised that there were no great patterns available for eggs. There are loads of patterns for chickens and bunnies readily available, but alas no eggs, unless you like to appliqué them. Bring on the challenge! After a bit of drafti...
