Hugs quilt

One of the young Mamas in one of my online quilting groups suffered a terrible loss, and we decided to do what quilters do - make her a quilt, to wrap up in and to comfort her and her kids.

We decided to make the Friendship Hexagon Block, a twist on the traditional Friendship Star block. The block tutorial can be found over at Don't Call me Betsy.

We checked the Mama's Pinterest boards for inspiration and agreed the colours should to be from within the following palettes:

These were my two blocks:

The top and back were pieced by Lindsey of Happier than a Bird Quilts, and then quilted and bound by Heidi of Buttons and Butterflies. All in all we were over 20 ladies contributing a few blocks, material, time or money.
