The Great British Sewing Bee

OK, so I might be a bit hooked.

Just a real shame there is only one episode left of the series. Hopefully there'll be another one coming soon!

The three challenges each week have included one "surprise" where the contestants have had to follow a pattern, one alteration and finally one where they need to make a tailored garment for a live model. For the latter one of these, they have been asked to prepare beforehand by bringing fabric and patterns.

In the surprise section they have made an a-line skirt with an invisible zip, men's trousers and a shirred child's dress.

The alterations have included adding pockets to a high-street skirt, altering a neckline and making a loose-fitting dress more shapely.

The more demanding or at least time-consuming challenges have included an every-day dress, a blouse in silky material and now latest, a jacket.

The final episode is on next Tuesday 23 April and should include an evening dress.

Personally, the only thing of these I haven't yet made is the shirred dress, but perhaps that should be a mission for the summer? Also, I really need to be better at taking photos of things I make and publish them.

Oh, and if you loved some of the fabrics, do visit "my" fabric shop Fabrics Galore - homepage - Facebook - (mail order available!) as they have been providing some of the fabrics selected by the contestants!
