Project Run and Play - Week 1 - remix

I saw the "Project Run and Play" challenge on one of the blogs that I am following and decided to try to create something for each theme as this should take me slightly outside my comfort zone.

The Week 1 challenge, which ended today, was to do a remix of the June bug dress pattern.

When I saw the pattern, my first thought was PRINCESS and here is my dress based on the pattern:


Unfortunately I missed the deadline for the "sew at home" part of the challenge, but I have still uploaded my design to the Flickr page.

Coming week's challenges are:
Week 2 - Boy's week
Week 3 - sewing through the decades
Week 4 - outerwear
Week 5 - special occasion / partywear

Not sure how much time I'll have going forward, but hopefully I'll be able to make some of the others too, and perhaps even before the deadline...

The work with the pall for the Swedish Church in London is progressing, slowly. I published a photo of the middle section, the road, in October ( click for entry ). At the moment we are working on the four areas around the road, each representing a season. As everything is hand sewn it is a rather slow process, but great fun! Our latest thinking is that we should try to focus the summer season on blue, yellow and red to make sure they all match each other. Some of the "flowers" in the picture above has therefore been moved to other seasons or been put in the "perhaps" pile. A rough count in the photos shows that we have stitched together a little over 500 hexagons, plus the road; someone mentioned that we probably need around 2000...
